Initial Thoughts
Before going on
exchange, I spoke to a friend that had just come back from studying abroad at
USYD. Among her long list of must-do’s, this class was at the top. Outdoor
Education is a great way to learn about Australia’s ecosystem and go on amazing
trips that show it off. I believed this class was also a good break from the
standard learning environment and core classes. Personally, I am not much of
hiking person, but the few times I have done it in the past, I have really
enjoyed it. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and test your own
abilities.
I am very excited
about the trips to the Royal National Park and the Blue Mountains as I have
heard great things about both places. I think that I have a lot to add to the
group as I am really good at working in teams and helping out others. I also
have no problem trying new experiences and testing my limits. By the end of
this unit, I expect to know more about Australia’s wildlife and history. In
addition, I believe it will allow us to bond with people in the class over our experiences
at the parks.
